Sarah Hazelbaker

Meet Sarah

Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University in Bloomington in 2010. She spent five years working in quality control within a biochemistry laboratory before transitioning into clinical research at Duke University. Through this work, she discovered a strong interest in direct patient care. She completed her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies with honors at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina in December 2021.

Clinical Experience

Sarah began her clinical career in 2014 as a volunteer EMT and first responder. She later worked for four years as a Clinical Research Coordinator in a hospital labor and delivery unit supporting an umbilical cord blood bank. During physician assistant training, she gained experience across multiple medical settings including primary care, cardiology, internal medicine, and psychiatry.

She became a board-certified Physician Assistant through the NCCPA and began practicing in psychiatry and behavioral health in Colorado in 2022. She provides outpatient psychiatric care using evidence-based treatment approaches. Her clinical focus includes anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder types I and II, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Clinical Approach

Sarah approaches care with respect, compassion, and a strong commitment to patient dignity. She creates a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard and understood. Her work centers on evidence-based care and collaborative decision making. She places strong value on patient education and believes informed patients achieve better outcomes. Her goal is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and help each patient take an active role in reaching their mental health goals.
